Red frequency-upconversion fluorescence emission is observed in europium (III) complex with encapsulating polybenzimidazole tripodal ligands, pumped with 930- and 1070-nm picosecond laser pulses. The luminescence of transition 5D0->7F2 (612 nm) is induced by two-photon absorption of hypersensitive transitions 7F0->5D2 (465 nm) and 7F1->5D1 (535 nm). Analysis results suggest that the two-photon excitation strength of these hypersensitive transitions is increased dramatically owing to the C3 symmetry of the coordination field.

The effect of the third-order filter term on soliton interactions in optical fibers with guiding filters is theoretically analyzed. We find that this term causes a significant difference to the interaction of solitons through filters among the regimes of without sliding, with up- and down-sliding frequencies of filters. It is shown that the interaction between solitons can be more effectively suppressed by up-sliding filters than that by down-sliding filters in the presence of the third-order filter term. Moreover, the third-order filter term is found to play a positive role in suppressing soliton interactions in the case of non-sliding.

We derived the theoretical results of soliton interactions in optical fiber with super-Gaussian sliding-frequency filters. The results demonstrate that the interactions between optical fiber solitons can be effectively suppressed by super-Gaussian sliding-frequency filters. And the results also show that the super-Gaussian filter with sliding is more effective in suppressing soliton interactions than that without sliding.

A photonic heterostructure with multi-channel and sharp angular defect modes by combining two different one-dimensional defective photonic crystals is proposed. The filters designed on the basis of this heterostructure possess both functions of multi-channel narrow band filtering and sharp angular filtering. The channels, channel interval, and number of channels can be tuned by adjusting the geometric and physical parameters of the heterostuctures. This kind of filters will benefit the development of multi-channel interstellar or atmosphere optical communication.

Good linearity and wide dynamic range are the advantages of asymmetric Fabry-Perot (F-P) interferometric cavity, whose realization has been long for. Based on optical thin film characteristic matrix theory, an asymmetric F-P interferometric cavity with good linearity and wide dynamic range is designed. And by choosing the material of two different thin metallic layers, the asymmetric F-P interferometric cavity is successfully fabricated. The design theory and method of this asymmetric F-P interferometric cavity have been described in detailed. In this paper an asymmetric F-P interferometric cavity used in fiber optical sensor is reported.

Experimental results demonstrate that the band gap of colloidal suspension crystal changes with both the thickness of crystal and the dispersity of micro-spheres. As the thickness decreases, a red shift of band gap is observed, and there is a maximum of red shift. The values of the maximum red shifts are dependent on the standard deviations of micro-spheres. The experimental results are consistent with theoretical calculation. As the colloidal suspension crystal is assembled from micro-spheres with a standard deviation of 8.4% in a thick cell, an incident angles independent broadband is observed, which is explained as an amorphous structure. Two amorphous models are discussed.

研究了4种新合成的7烷氧-4甲基香豆素染料.首次报道了它们的吸收光谱、荧光光谱及激光特质.与一般香豆素染料系列比较,新染料的荧光辐射峰向短波移动了60nm.这4种新染料在紫外区产生激射.本文测量了它们的激光波长调谐范围和激光能量转换效率.用时间分辨技术观测了其动力学荧光并确定了相应的荧光寿命.
